There are two models for organisations to consider when outsourcing the administration and procurement of training, either a Master Vendor or Vendor Neutral approach.

Master Vendor Training Procurement
Training companies offering a managed training service do so using a Master Vendor model. The training company supplies its own training and assumes responsibility for the management of relationships with all other suppliers; enabling the client to benefit from a simplified service, whilst retaining the breath of supply from multiple sources. Some of the benefits to this approach are:- Economies of scale
- Increased control through a single point of contact
- Consolidated SLA, contract and review process
- Ongoing management of existing and new suppliers
- Reduction of management time spent liaising with multiple suppliers
- Reduction of time handling sourcing-related and mundane administration
- Consolidated invoicing

Vendor Neutral Training Procurement
A Vendor Neutral approach has the same benefits as a Master Vendor, however a Vendor Neutral model can only be offered by external service providers that are truly independent and don’t deliver any training themselves. The fundamental benefit of this approach is the elimination of any bias that will otherwise be experienced using a Master Vendor model. This approach is ideal for organisations who wish to retain existing preferred suppliers while also being able to consider alternatives in an unbiased environment.
