InSight Features and Technical Overview
InSight is Business Training Partnership’s client facing technology; a scalable training business application driven through a standard browser that can be used by small or large companies, for single projects or as a complete business-critical system.
InSight can be used in two complementary ways: as an administration system to manage all training activity and as a web based interface to purchase training products.
- The training administration system automates the processes that corporate training departments perform on a daily basis.
- The customer interface allows individual users to book courses and manages their skills development. Client managers are also able to access management reports, be welcomed with their company branding and procure in accordance with agreed business rates.
All transactions made by telephone, website, Managed Training Service, client intranet or web service interface are managed in real-time with one central database. InSight has been built to be easy to integrate with your other internal systems.

To fully appreciate the power of InSight, we recommend a demonstration. However, the following list gives you an idea of the breadth of functionality currently available.

Technical Specification
InSight is hosted on a Windows .Net server with an SQL 2000 database. The application is written using OO techniques in .Net.
The application is accessed entirely through a standard Internet browser. The advanced scheduling and resourcing screens make use of Microsoft proprietary JavaScript extensions. Microsoft Internet Explorer is therefore a requirement for users that need to access these areas of the application. In practice this is limited to a small, controlled audience. The remainder of the application uses standard browser features.
The server is hosted and maintained by RackSpace (www.rackspace.co.uk). It is protected by a conventional firewall and operating system patches are tested and applied promptly. RackSpace have a proven track record in hosting services and are experienced in managing high capacity servers. They are one of the few ISPs that negotiate (and pay for) SLAs for their peering agreements. This makes their network one of the most reliable in the industry.
